Waxy Maize

I just found out TP started carrying "Waxy Maize." I understand this is a good post workout carb. How is it different from Corn Sugar or Maltodextrine?

The waxy maize is far superior, in my opinion. I have used it while they were getting the formula ironed out and it is just as fast as Vitargo and is actually probably even faster. I think if you were to drink it other than postworkout it would make you sick. I played around with it and took a couple LARGE servings of it postworkout and even though it was after legs the shit hit me hard and fast. It is really good stuff. I have since changed from using Vitargo to using trueprotein's waxy maize.

You definitely need to put the waxy maize in last when making a shake--if you let it sit for any time in water or liquid it can turn into a mess.....so make sure you put it in dead last and then pulse blend

it comes unflavored because people combine it with their protein postworkout drink and some people like different flavors to their protein---im a chocolate man myself but many people like fruit flavors

You can buy right from the source and get the high quality raw materials from Truenutrition.com or you can pay 1.5 to 3 times the cost for a glossy jug, fancy multicolored label, and $13000 per page magazine advertising costs....for a company I just might be making the product for anyway........

what's the difference between the TP waxy maize and regular vitargo?

I've used both the vitargo cgl as well as plain vitargo from profressional supps and I really liked the results from both

Anyone care to divulge what qty they might use in a postworkout shake compared to say a Malto/Dex mix? If like Dante says it turns into a mess I don't want to add too much at once. Also would any of you recommend mixing malto/dex with it or just straight waxy maize?

They started out with waxy maize starch orginally but of late have for some reason (price?) switched to a barley starch.

Doug and I tested out many versions of waxy maize and the resounding winner with everyone to a tee was what we are offering right now.

about 50-100 grams (1 to 1.5 scoops)

trust me you wont need malt dex in there....this is 500 horsepower with nitrous oxide compared to a briggs and stratton lawnmower engine--LOL

Do you need to mix in a blender when using this or will a shaker bottle get the job done?
I'm thinking of getting some of this once I am allowed to start really hitting the weights again, I'm going nuts on this "surgical vacation". At least I have a lot of time to plan what will happen when I can train again.

So, how many servings come in a pound of waxy maize? How do you decide how much you need for your post workout, I am currently 255 lbs...

This is a very exciting product in my opinion. I'm going to be using some samples of it for a contest in 2 weeks, and I will be sure to give my experience.
It passes through the gut very quickly into the small intestine. This is where the real absorption takes place, so it's beneficial when taking other nutrients that can be broken down by stomach acids.

This quick absorbing effect also effects the osmality of the body, pulling water along with the waxy maize, which if used correctly can be beneficial during the final week of a contest prep.

You should be using at least 20 oz. of water to blend it with, too, so that it isn't as thick and can move through the gut as quickly as it should. In my opinion, I would go with 20 oz. per scoop to be sure. You are using it for "speed" so it wouldn't be wise to overlook something as simple as making sure there is enough water to move it through.

Yeah, you won't be using a shaker cup with this one. I recommend getting the water swirling on a low speed and then adding the powder to the water as it is blending. That way, you won't end up with much on the sides of the blender.

Does the TP waxy maize mix about the same as Vitargo? I am using Vitargo right now, and don't have much problem mixing it with whey by shaking in a Tupperware bottle. It's not as easy as mixing maltodextrin, but it's not that bad really.

With a 70cc scoop (regular scoop) if you cut it off at the top its 40 grams, if you take a heaping scoop (which is what 99% of you all do) its 50 grams per scoop.

Waxy maize by itself will replenish glycogen after a workout or cardio faster than almost any other ingredient out there. It does this "glycogen replenishment" thru an extremely rapid stomach emptying rate. Whats this mean to you? What do you think you can combine with waxy maize to shuttle thru the digestive process at a blinding rate? Protein powder postworkout, creatine, bcaa's, and so on.

On off training days when your looking flat what do you think is the product that is going to remedy that faster than anything? In a weight gaining aspect its a perfect supplement to take on "refeed days", maybe at post cardio (meal one), and then 2 other key meals during that day where your taking in protein drinks

In 2 cut off scoops of waxy maize (80 grams), there are about 73 grams of carbs. In 2 heaping scoops of waxy maize (100grams) there is 92 grams of carbohydrates, 90 of which come from starch and the other 2 are simple carbs. I believe absorbtion and digestion are the new area's the supplement industry is going to go after to produce the most "anabolic" effect to normal nutritional supplement intake....and this is pretty much the start to that frontier.

Alot of top pro and amateur competitors are using waxy maize to carb up for their shows and its become "the in thing secret"
